Sedalia, Mo. - MediaLab’s documentary team starred in a featured story in the Sedalia Democrat on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.

While conducting an interview with pastor Calvin Pritchard, the A World of Difference team was surprised when a newspaper photographer walked in. They picked up a copy of the daily paper the next morning, finding themselves featured on the first page.

The following is an excerpt from the story:

“Sedalia was the first stop of several that students from Pacific Lutheran University, of Tacoma, Washington, are making as they film a documentary about diversity across the country.

While at the Rose M. Nolen Black History Library on Tuesday, Dr. Robert Marshall Wells, director of the Center for Media Studies at Pacific Lutheran, said each year his students create a film. In the past they have worked on subject matter dealing with oil, water, food waste, and immigration.

Wells, who has a Ph.D. in American studies, said he learned about Dr. Marge Harlan, director of the Black History Library, through an information feed he receives online.”
